New Year's Resolution

2010 New Year's Resolutions: I have figured out two things I would like to attempt this coming new year.
1. Post something new on this blog at least once a week. My original goal of daily is a little too ambitious for me especially once this next semester starts at school. If I make a daily entry then I will be impressed with myself. And since I am the only one here right now it is kind of boring and the items I want to post which require feedback I cannot until there are others among myself here on this blog.
2. Work on my writing two times a week, even if it is only a few pages a week.

And of course finding a job is an added bonus at this point. I hope 2010 is much better than 2009 for all of us that are out of work.

So that went out the window!

So when I started this blog my goal was to write a post on it each day, only a few days in and I have already foundered! Oh well - I blame the lack of writing and reading on the holidays. Too much to do and too little time to get it done. Oh well only one more evening of celebration and then time to recooperate, clean and revive the ordinary life. I personally cannot wait to get past these holidays and start a new year. 2010 is my year! Time for change and exploration. Very exciting.
So, New Year's Resolutions. I am not normally one to try to figure out something to change and then attempt it for a new year, but maybe this year I will try to pick out something that would help my focus on writing or reading. I have taken a lot of classes next semester so I am not sure how much "free" reading I will be able to squeeze in. We shall see how that unfolds.
Well not too much other interesting points to discuss. I did go see the Radio City Rockettes with my husband at the UCF arena - impressive. Other than that hope to see some new people and posts here one day.

Writing Contest Winner

So today was the first thing I have had published - a short story about a painting on a website. I tied for first place with another writer. It is very exciting to see something that you have created from your head on a piece of paper, or in this instance on a website of someone you don't know.

I hope this is a start of a many pieces to come and possibly a new career.

My Eve of Christmas Eve!

Well since my goal is to write on this blog daily I find myself combing my mind of today's events to find something of interest to place here in this empty space. And I have a few thoughts....
Supposedly tomorrow a short story of mine will be published on multiple websites since I won a writing contest I entered at the end of November. I will post the link once I receive it tomorrow. This is exciting as it will be my first piece published.
I tried to make a Turkish Vegetable Dish for dinner tonight - horrible! A lot of work, mountains of vegetables which led to an enormous amount of leftovers and lacking in taste... So I suppose tomorrow's lunch will consist of these leftovers and some doctoring to make it more interesting to eat - at least that is the plan.
I have a few more presents to wrap before I can officially say I am done with this holiday! This time of year is not as fun as when we are gainfully employed - too many restrictions in my mind when shopping on a budget. But hopefully this time next year this country will be experiencing something better.
And after wrapping some presents tonight I plan to crank out some words - maybe even some more on my novel. I have a few ideas brewing in my head that haven't made it onto a piece of paper yet - maybe tonight.

First Day of Blogging

To blog or not to blog... that has been the question of the week for me.
I began thinking about this after recently watching the movie "Julie & Julia" which was interesting and oddly enough about a woman who started a blog while she endured cooking some 500 or so recipes from Julia Child's cookbook. I thought it was a good movie and made me wonder what my blog would be about if I had one.

So what better way to find out than to start a blog on a whim with no "real" purpose behind it, other than to see where it ends up.

Of course I am starting this with intentions of writing something here on a daily event and am interested to hear thoughts and comments from others. I look forward to expanding my knowledge in Blogging, Literature, Writing and People in general. Thank you for visiting and sending me comments.
